Hallways and Auditoriums

While the hallways and stained glass windows from Bell Hall have been installed, Eisenhower Auditorium and Marshall are still being finished.  The cafeteria is located in the basement (1st floor) as are some of the 96 classrooms.

Faculty offices

Furniture and IT (informational technology) was being installed.  Offices had most of their furniture installed, while the cubicle areas were still being wired.

Lewis and Clark Classrooms

Each classroom is designed for 16 students, with two students per work table.  Each table has two disappearing computer monitors, and are hooked up to computers in a hall closet, so no computers are visible in the room.  Students have lockers in the cross halls, and each classroom opens directly onto a hallway- no more passing through other classes to take a break.

The front of each classroom has two 65" plasma displays; one is able to be used as a smart board while both will play DVDs, TV and project slides. There are also white boards that can be moved in front of the flat screens, and additional white boards on the side walls.  Each classroom also has three cameras, so each classroom can conduct VTCs.

The rear of each classroom contains a small snack area, with cabinets to store cleaning supplies, utensils, etc and a countertop for coffees makers or microwaves (not provided).

Lewis and Clark Center

virtual tour

The new Lewis and Clark Center is nearing completion.  Named after the famed explorers Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the Lewis and Clark Center will house the Command and General Staff College, with the official opening ceremonies in August 2007, though elements of the school will begin moving from Bell Hall in May 2007.

These photos were taken on 8 February 2007, and show some parts of the building nearly complete, while others have some work required.  The workers were installing furniture and the IT (information technology) wires throughout the building when we were there.  Our visit looked at offices, classrooms, and the new auditoriums.

The building cost $115 million, with an additional $34 million in informational technology.  It has approximately 410,000 square feet of space (up from 380,000 in Bell Hall), 96 classrooms and able to handle 1536 students.

The new Eisenhower Auditorium will hold 2,005 people, and the new Marshall will hold 325.  Each classroom contains two 65" plasma displays.  The cafeteria area will have a Subway, Einstein Bagels, Anthony's Pizza, and Charlie's sandwiches.

The grand opening ceremony will be on 13 August 2007, with the opening of the new CGSC class.
